Welcome to the Industrial Heat Map Web Site



The main aim of this website is to assist power station developers to explore fully opportunities to use CHP, including community heating, when developing proposals for new power stations. The data displayed on this website were developed by Future Energy Solutions for Defra, based on a combination of data from the Environment Agency Pollution Inventory, the Scottish Environmental Protection Agency European Pollution Emission Register submissions and National Allocation Plan.

The map identifies around 790 sites, of which 230 already have CHP. The values given for the heat load at the sites are, in all cases, estimated from the reported emissions of carbon dioxide. For a description of the methodology used please see:
